The Biggest Mistake When Starting Your Fitness Journey
There is a rookie mistake that we constantly see in the industry. Any guesses?
“Eating a Cheat Meal!”
Nope, one meal won’t make or break you.
“Skipping a workout!”
Nope, one workout won’t make or break you, either.
“Eating carbs after dark!”
Nope. If you control your caloric intake, then eat your carbs whenever you’d like.
Okay, no more guesses..
The Biggest Rookie Mistake is Trying to Change EVERYTHING Overnight
How often have you or your friends started & stopped a new diet or workout plan?
Here is the typical cycle..
Day 0 - Get motivated!
Day 1 - Begin working out daily, eliminate all sugar, drink a gallon of water, buy $100 worth of supplements, post your workout on IG, etc.
Day 14 - Keep going.
Day 21 - Keep going.
Day 28 - Quit.
Day 365 - Start over again!!!!!!!
And the cycle continues.
Wouldn’t you rather get fit & stay fit?
Aren’t you tired of starting over?
And most importantly.. What’s the rush?
Most people intuitively know that “getting fit” requires more than two weeks of work.
We also know our goal is to be fit for the rest of our lives, not just for a chapter.
So why do we repeat the aforementioned cycle? Why do we ride that roller coaster?
Luckily, there is a better way..
Instead of Becoming Dwayne Johnson Overnight.. Start Small
The previous cycle was terrible. Here’s a better one:
Day 0 - Determine your goals.
Day 1 - Commit to & execute 1-3 sustainable habits.
Day 7 - Add your next habit.
Day 14 - Add your next habit.
Day 182 - Look up and realize, “Holy sh*t, I’m really fit! When did this happen?!?!?”
One of our most successful clients (Fake Name: Dan) began with a BIG goal - Lose 50lb.
Today he is 57lb lighter.
But we only asked him to do three things in Week One:
Walk 10 minutes per day
Track his foods
Perform one workout per week
In Week 2.. We introduced targets for Caloric Intake & Protein Intake.
In Month 2.. We bumped him to 3 workouts/week.
In Month 3.. We added targets for Carbohydrate Intake.
In Month 4.. We added HIIT-style training.
And we kept adding a few new habits per month.
His confidence & commitment grew each month. And so did his results.
Build your foundation first. We can always add to it later. The goal is to be healthy forever.
